The Audiologist independently provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with hearing disabilities. The Audiologist determines type and degree of hearing impairment and implements habilitation and rehabilitation service for the patient. The Audiologist provides guidance to the physician in determining treatment recommendations for patients. Patient Care: The Audiologist performs history evaluation including medical, family and social history to determine patient risk for hearing disorders. Administers and interprets a variety of tests, such as air and bone conduction, and speech reception and discrimination test to determine type and degree of hearing impairment, site of damage, and effects on comprehension and speech. Evaluates test results in relation to behavioral, social, educational and medical information obtained from patients, families, physician or other professionals to determine communication problems related to hearing disability.
