Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Job Title: Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) Employment Type: Full time / 40 hours week Shift: Day Shift: Location: ONSITE IN Silver Spring, MD PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS POSITION IS FOR A CANDIDATE EXPERIENCED IN CANCER REGISTRY - CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS AN ACTIVE ONCOLOGY DATA SPECIALIST CERTIFICATION. Position Purpose: The Oncology Data Specialist completes case finding, abstracting and follow-up activities necessary to maintain an approved Teaching Hospital Cancer Program as required by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. As an Oncology Data Specialist you will: - Assist with statistical analysis of data and responding to data requests. - Analyze and abstract pertinent information from the medical record (i.e.: pathology reports, diagnostic radiology reports and other pertinent information relating to the diagnosis of cancer), into a computerized cancer registry software system. - Obtain follow-up and other pertinent information for each abstract by contacting other hospital registries, radiation oncology centers and medical oncologists offices - Provide Registry support for Holy Cross Hospital cancer con...
