Description Technologists perform procedures and examinations in hospital radiology departments under the direction of radiologists and other medical officers to produce radiographic studies which are used in medical diagnosis to locate injuries, foreign bodies, pathological conditions or lesions within the body. Diagnostic radiologic technologists receive and interpret requests and/or instructions for radiologic procedures; gain the cooperation of patients; operate radiographic equipment; protect patients from secondary radiation; and record results. This position requires knowledge of radiation protection standards; knowledge of the function of the major divisions of the skeletal system and major organs; and knowledge of the physical concept of energy and the property of X-rays Understands preps and time requirements for imaging exams. Able to call physicians for orders and or change of orders. Is able to perform STAT exams in a timely manner and convey results to the appropriate staff. Assists the radiology clerk in various clerical aspects. Must be capable of performing portable X-ray, be familiar with operating C-arm in surgical cases, able to assist with Fluoroscopy studies,...
