We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Gardener, on a 4.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Rate of Pay : £13.26 - £17.10 per hour Summary: The Gardener role involves maintaining parks, green spaces and sports facilities through a range of horticultural and landscaping duties, operating machinery and equipment safely, and supporting the wider gardening team to deliver high-quality environmental services across the city. Responsibilities: Qualification: - Carry out grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, leaf and litter clearance duties. - Plant and maintain bedding plants, trees and shrubs. - Undertake shrub bed planting and maintenance including pruning and division. - Apply chemicals in accordance with regulations and safe working practices. - Maintain, set out and mark sports facilities. - Undertake soft landscaping works including top-soiling, cultivation, seeding and shrub-bed renewal. - NVQ Level 1 in Horticulture (or equivalent) OR: Minimum of two years' proven practical experience in Grounds Maintenance work.
