Job Description Summary: This position reports to ED/OBS Billing Analysis Manager and performs facility coding functions for ED and Observation Departments system wide. Does not hire, fire, discipline, promote, demote, transfer, or appraise staff. Responsibilities And Duties: 90% Assigns appropriate E/M (evaluation and management) code, Observation hourly charges and CPT codes after reading all documentation contained within the electronic medical record (including but not limited to provider notes, nursing documentation, radiology reports, lab reports and consultations/operating notes) and using knowledge of correct coding guidelines as appropriate for the particular patient type and/or service while maintaining at least a 95% accuracy and productivity rate.
