Job description

Objective of Position: Prepares and finishes metal surfaces of trailers in preparation for painting process, and apply paint to trailer surfaces and the ability to train in these processes. Principal Responsibilities: Position Qualifications: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. - Follows surface preparation specifications on trailers and accessories. - Follows supervisor/assistant supervisor’s instructions. - Uses blasting equipment to remove rust, carbon, mill scale and weld spatter. May be required to use buffers and chippers etc. to clean hard to reach areas. - Handles and utilizes all material used in the blast areas in a safe manner. - Applies primer and topcoat to trailers - Repairs paint on trailers - Maintains Paint vault - Inspects own work and trainee’s work - Dries and prepares trailer for paint booth by setting on paint carts. - Operates overhead crane in a safe manner. - Is familiar with all equipment used and is responsible for routine maintenance and upkeep. - Advises supervisor of any problems with sandblasting equipment or trailers. - Monitors supplies needed in area and u...
