Engineer II - Substation Application SUMMARY: Mortenson is currently seeking a Engineer II - Substation Application that will provide technical leadership and application-level engineering support for substation projects during pursuit, early design, estimating, and third-party review phases. This role bridges conceptual design and execution by developing preliminary substation designs, evaluating technical risks, supporting equipment selection, and advising project teams and clients on substation scope, constructability, and cost drivers. Hiring Locations: Minneapolis, MN / Denver, CO / Fargo, ND / San Antonio, TX RESPONSIBILITIES: Application Engineering & Technical Development: Develop preliminary substation layouts, one-lines, and equipment concepts to support pursuits and estimating. Apply broad knowledge of physical, P&C, grounding, insulation coordination, AC/DC systems, and equipment ratings. Support equipment selection strategies in coordination with Supply Chain and discipline engineers. Perform high-level technical reviews of third-party engineering packages.
