Asphalt Technician I

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: - Performs complete assay of asphalt products using ASTM and AASHTO standards to generate analysis certificates and support product quality - Carries out physical and chemical tests on asphalt binders and emulsions to support product development efforts - Assists asphalt scientists with research studies and experiments by collecting data - Participates in the AASHTO resource accreditation process and proficiency sample program - Operates, calibrates, and performs basic maintenance on testing equipment - Assists with the lab production and testing of asphalt emulsions and modified binders - Evaluates physical properties of industrial products as needed - Communicates clearly in written and spoken English - Keeps a detailed laboratory notebook - Assists with project file data entry - Maintains cleanliness of work areas - Demonstrates acceptable level of knowledge of laboratory safety - Observes and complies with all Hunt safety policies and procedures - Performs other tasks as designated by supervision EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: An associate degree and two years of experience testing asphalt binders/emulsions or equivalen...
