Job Description Emergency Medical Technicians provide out of hospital emergency medical care and transportation by ambulance for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical services (EMS) system. EMTs use Basic Life Support knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life threatening emergencies. Job Responsibility: 1.Responds to assignments as directed and updates unit status as required. 2.Assesses the patient’s nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures in accordance with New York State Department of Health Guidelines. 3.Administers first aid treatment or Basic Life Support care to sick or injured persons in prehospital settings. 4.Coordinates or interacts professionally with partners, patients, public safety personnel, colleagues, and hospital emergency staff to facilitate care delivery. 5.Communicates with dispatchers, medical control, or treatment center personnel to provide information about situation, to arrange reception of patients, or to receive instructions for further treatment. 6.Writes a comprehensive report documen...
