Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - Massena Hospital Department: MH Respiratory Therapy Location: Massena Hospital- 1 Hospital Drive Massena, NY 13662 Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule: 12 hour shift; every other weekend rotation SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Manager and Respiratory Therapy Director the Respiratory therapist performs all aspects of and assures continuity of quality respiratory care. Adhere to the professional standards of the National Board for Respiratory Care, the New York State Education Department and Gouverneur Hospital. The respiratory therapist at Gouverneur Hospital will be comfortable working in the emergency room, medical surgical floor and a transport setting. RESPONSIBILITIES: Must use initiative and independent judgment in critical situations. Uses knowledge to address adverse reactions to therapy or medications including respiratory distress and failure. Authorized to accept verbal and telephone orders from physicians for respiratory care. Therapist will be expected to write orders for medications pertaining to the cardiopulmonary system which will be co-signed by the provider. Assists in the development of work methods, job plann...
