Job description

Summary The Welder cuts and joins metals and other materials using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment with great precision. The Welder fabricates or repairs products such as machine parts, plant and shipboard equipment, motors, and generators. The welding position is important as it provides the foundation for a strong infrastructure. Welders must be competent in using dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will have steady hands and a great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential. Essential Functions/Qualifications: The responsibilities of the position include the following: - Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures. - Welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes. - Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded. - Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding. - Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts. - Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding....
