The division provides policy support and analysis related to insurance, Alberta pension plans, and the Canada Pension Plan. It also provides policy and regulatory oversight and support for Alberta-based financial institutions, including ATB Financial, Alberta credit unions, and loan and trust corporations. In addition, the division is responsible for implementing Care-First insurance in Alberta. The Employment Pensions branch administers and enforces the requirements of the Employment Pension Plans Act (EPPA) to ensure that all pension plans registered with the branch comply with the legislation.
