The Infusion Nurse provides comprehensive care to patients and their families during all phases of cancer care – pre-treatment, during treatment and post-treatment. The Infusion Nurse educates patients and their families regarding: - Diagnosis - Treatment - Side effects - Dietary issues The Infusion Nurse also: - Performs venous access appropriately for type of chemotherapy - Manages venous access devices per protocol - Assesses blood return - Uses antithrombotics when indicated - Administers chemotherapy as ordered per protocol - Manages infusion reactions - Documents appropriately in the EMR and generates and approves billing charges - Phone triage - Provides a clean, safe environment in which to provide patient care - Understands handling of ha...
