Description MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY invites applications for a one-year full-time Visiting Professor of Music to serve as Coordinator of Instrumental Jazz Studies. Primary responsibilities include coordinating all aspects of the instrumental jazz program; directing Jazz Band I or other ensembles as needed; and teaching applied lessons (classical & jazz). Music theory/aural skills, commercial arranging, improvisation, and instrumental methods classes are other potential teaching assignments based on the successful candidate’s skills and experience. Expectations include engaging in recruitment and retention initiatives; performing as principal in the Millikin Decatur Symphony Orchestra; performing in the Faculty Jazz Ensemble; and involvement with the campus community. Candidates demonstrating commitment to academic advising, entrepreneurship, and community outreach will receive strong consideration . Position begins August 2026.
