Job description

The Team: Northside Inpatient Unit is part of Statewide Mental Health Services (SMHS) within the Department of Health and provides acute inpatient care for adults experiencing significant mental health challenges across Northern Tasmania. The multidisciplinary team includes nursing, medical, and allied health professionals working together to deliver recovery-oriented, evidence-based care in line with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, and relevant legislation. Allied Health plays a central role in supporting psychosocial assessment, functional recovery, and discharge planning, ensuring that care extends beyond symptom stabilisation to meaningful reintegration into the community. The service works closely with the Launceston General Hospital, Community Mental Health Services, and external providers to support continuity of care. As part of SMHS, Northside contributes to a broader statewide system focused on improving outcomes for consumers, supporting workforce capability, and delivering high-quality mental health services to the Tasmanian community.
