Division/Program Summary: The Office of School Health (OSH) is a collaborative program between the Department of Education (DOE) and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), dedicated to promoting the health of over 1.3 million school children enrolled in approximately 1,800 public and non-public schools across New York City. For over 100 years, OSH has provided essential public health services, including case management of chronic health conditions, preventive health screenings, urgent care, medication administration, counseling, health education, referrals, oral health, and vision services. The primary public health purpose of the OSH Vision Program is to identify and support students at risk for amblyopia, myopia, astigmatism, and hyperopia.
