Shift : Days Hours: Reporting to the Director of Imaging Services, the Sonographer is responsible for operating diagnostic ultrasound equipment in a safe manner while exercising independent judgment in order to obtain diagnostic images on patients of all ages for subsequent evaluation by a qualified physician. Position Accountabilities: 1. Provides services to patients that demonstrate knowledge and consideration of age specific and cultural differences. Modifies care and preparation to meet the age specific requirements of the newborn (0 to 30 days), pediatric (1 to 12 years), adolescent (13 to 17 years), adult (18 to 70 years), and geriatric (71+ years) patients. Applies age-specific considerations to care, such as the need for additional safety measures; observations of skin integrity; behavior, and effective communication. 2. Scans patient with skill and knowledge. a. Positioning, comfort and safety of patients. b. Uses appropriate protocol and guidelines set by AIUM. c. Selects proper transducer for exam. d. Obtains diagnostic images on patients of all ages for interpretation by Radiologist or Cardiologist and records information for permanent record. e. Assists physician as n...
