Description Construct and rebuild a variety of difficult and complicated patterns such as multi-stage pumps, complicated pumps or machine parts, jigs and difficult models for development or experimental work. Close fit parts require working to blueprint or diagram dimensions, making necessary shrinkage allowances for the type of metal to be cast. Assemble parts and mount patterns. Build gates and accessory equipment. Responsible for securing satisfactory castings from the pattern and may suggest changes to improve its manufacture. Make core boxes, dryers, pattern layout and match plates. Make difficult repairs. Able to construct the complete range of pump patterns and occasionally check the work of other pattern makers. May also perform other miscellaneous work. Particular attention must be made to safety consciousness. Requirements: COMPLEXITY AND JUDGMENT: Work is generally diversified and require a thorough knowledge of pattern making principles and practices.
