Part-time Instructor: Surgical Technology

Job Description: Part-time instructor positions (as defined by State Board Policy, BP 3-10 ) exist to create and maintain a teaching and learning environment that empowers students to be successful. Part-time instructors work under the direction of their respective Department Chair, Associate Dean, or Division Dean. Pikes Peak State College maintains a pool of qualified part-time instructors. Part-time instructors will be selected to support departmental requirements. Part-time instructors may be employed to teach courses, conduct presentations or other service activities when current instructors and faculty are not available. Surgical technology instructors teach students the duties and responsibilities of functioning as a surgical technologist in a hospital or surgery center. The instructor will teach students how to prepare an operating room, provide pre-operative patient care, and assist a surgeon during surgery or another medical procedure or operation. Instruction takes place both in a classroom and in a clinical setting to give students the first-hand experience they need to learn the skills and expectations of being a surgical technologist.
