Job description
As an inexperienced neuromonitoring technician, the IOM Specialist I will develop competencies in the basics of Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM) testing and associated interventions and perform intraoperative monitoring under direct supervision. Within three months of the date of hire, the IOM Specialist I will be able to perform neuromonitoring for simpler cases that include spine surgeries and peripheral nerves surgeries. The techniques with which the IOM Specialist I must gain expertise include the elicitation of somatosensory and motor-evoked potentials, and spontaneous and triggered EMG for surgical cases that place the nervous system at risk and peripheral nerve surgeries. In addition, the IOM Specialist I will obtain CNIM certification within 18 months of the date of hire. As a Trainee, the employee will be learning and training on the following duties and responsibilities and expected to be fully adept within 6 -9 months: 1.Understands the important details of each case in order to select appropriate monitoring techniques. 2.Participates in the planning of intraoperative monitoring modalities appropriate to the surgical procedure. 3.Performs all pre-operative patient verific...
