Market Range: 04 Hiring Salary: $18.54/Hourly: THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN: JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Medical Technical Assistant 1 obtains referrals to the University of Tennessee and outside specialists for the patients of the University of Tennessee Internal Medicine Center within the guidelines of the insurance company's specifications and requirements. EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of relevant experience in outpatient medicine. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: CMA or RMA preferred but not required. - Obtains and schedules patients appointments with specialists per the Internal Medicine physician’s request. - Verifies and confirms the patient's eligibility. - Communicates referral to patient, insurance company, specialist, and Primary Care Physician at UT Internal Medicine Center. - Make appointments for outpatient testing procedures with the breast center and radiology; completes prior authorizations. - Updates and maintains accurate EMR records. - Communicates changes in referral policies of various insurance companies to nursing and MD staff as they occur. - Assists nurses by answering phone calls f...
