Job Description Performs routine clerical tasks related to laboratory. Job Responsibility: *ADA Essential Functions - * Receives specimens from internal/external suppliers.May retrieve specimens from other hospital departments, as required. - * Accessions patient specimens into laboratory computer system.Enters patient demographics and relevant information into laboratory computer system. - * Enters/scans units of blood and/or blood components into department computer system. - * Triages specimen for handling or release.Centrifuges specimens, as required. - * Processes specimen using designated equipment. - * Performs designated equipment maintenance including cleaning, emptying waste, and replenishing supplies, as required. - * Maintains inventory of reagents and other supplies.Places orders for supplies through department computer system. - * Responds to inquiries regarding specimen handling, test results, patient preparation, problem specimens, etc. - * Operates the pneumatic tube system, as needed. - * Prepares, distributes and files reports, as requested. - Performs related duties, as required.
