Job Overview Utilities Maintenance Operator is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and construction of underground utility piping and appurtenances in field conditions for the Public Utilities Department. Salary: Hiring Range (annual) $Min – $Max *Internal rates may vary based on the selected candidate’s current grade. Tier I $18.15/$21.00 $37,752 - $43,680 Tier II $20.80/$24.50 $43,264 - $50,960 Tier III $23.50/$26.00 $48,880 - $54,080 Tier IV $25.70/$30.00 $53,456 - $62,400 Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have experience in operating various hand tools and specialized, light, and heavy equipment. Preferably the candidate will possess knowledge in plumbing, underground utilities/construction and/or have water and reclaimed water distribution and wastewater collection systems experience. Candidate must have the ability and willingness to work outside in a subtropical climate, adverse weather conditions, and high noise levels. The job also requires lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, climb ladders up to 35 feet, and work in confined spaces and manholes.
