Work Shift Evening/Night Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0 Summary: This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by pre-cleaning, cleaning, assembling, packaging and reprocessing of reusable medical devices. The Central Sterile Aide must have high integrity, the ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing area, and the willingness to support/work in many areas of the organization. Job Description: Job Duties/Essential Functions: - Job Duties - Transports, cleans, and packages reusable medical devices (e.g. scopes, surgical instruments, probes, containers). - Understands reprocessing concepts and workflow. - Transports both dirty and clean instruments to/from end user areas. - Packages instruments. - Cleans reusable instrumentation. - Completes initial and annual competencies as required by the department. - Attends mandatory staff meetings and in-services. - Assists vendors with loaner trays as necessary. - Provides coverage across all Mercy sites of care as required by the department. - General understanding of processes and department workflow. - Learns/Utilizes wrapping methods and packaging processes for instrumentation. - Follows policy and procedures set fort...
