About the Unit This 30-bed unit specializes in caring for stroke, post-neurosurgery, and post-orthopedic patients as well as patients with general medical issues. This unit emphasizes early mobility, pain control, and neuro-assessment and pain control. The RNs are NIH stroke scale certified and take care of patients of all ages. The patient-to-nurse ratio ranges from 4-5:1 on a day shift and 5-6:1 on night shift. The unit maintains a strong culture of teamwork, continuous learning, teaching and high-quality care, with a commitment to excellent outcomes and patient satisfaction.
