Job description

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Supportive Services Coordinator, the Mental Health Worker will provide Community Living Supports and Respite Care Services for youth with serious emotional disturbance (SED) diagnosis who are receiving services in the behavioral health system. The MHW will act as a member of the treatment team by working with youth up to age 18 in both family homes and within the tri-county community. Typical duties may include but are not limited to: Skill development related to activities of daily living and assistance to achieve or maintain communication, socialization and relationship-building skills and participation in leisure and community activities. Giving the youth and caregiver(s) a break to allow them to fill their reserves. Providers use modeling, as well as teaching directly with structure, consistency and routine and allow for practice of skills with reminders and prompts of behavior expectations followed up by reinforcing with incentives and rewards.
