Description The Department of Anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for one of two term faculty appointments for Academic Year 2017-2018 at the rank of Professorial Lecturer. Each appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence on August 29, 2017. Applicants should hold a PhD in Anthropology. We are seeking anthropologists who can help us teach our linguistics and sociocultural General Education courses, such as Anthropology of Life in the U.S., as well as upper level specialty courses and graduate courses, such as Discourse, Text, and Voice. Applicants should emphasize public engagement and research excellence, and, they should be able to incorporate scholarly engagement in their teaching. Term faculty members are expected to hold office hours each week during semesters in which they teach and to participate in department activities and service.
