Job description

Job Type: Per Diem Shift: Rotate: Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following infection control practices. Must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments within the hospital. - Ensures proper operation (e.g. runs and records biological tests, inspects equipment for visible signs of malfunction) of sterilizers (sterrad NX, sterrad 100) prior to use on a daily basis. - Processes all contaminated instruments, endoscopes and supplies returned to the Sterile Processing Department. - Applies infection prevention techniques in daily work assignments (e.g. general cleaning of department surface areas, racks, shelves, storage cabinets). - Demonstrates knowledge regarding handling and care of instruments and endoscopes, tray preparation and special procedure items. - Demonstrates knowledge of proper packaging and preparation of all supplies for sterilization. - Properly loads, operates and cleans all sterilizers (e.g. steam, sterrad).
