Description GENERAL SUMMARY: The Laboratory Technician-Pathology is someone who assists a pathologist in testing samples and providing diagnoses or recommendations for medical treatment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Assisting a pathologist with testing and reviewing samples. - Working in medical laboratories, taking and examining specimens. - Preparing the laboratory, including setting up equipment, preparing samples and conducting research on them. - Performing diagnostic testing on patient specimens to aid in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. - Adhering to all safety protocols when handling hazardous materials. - Maintaining a clean and organized work area. - Preparing specimens for examination by pathologists. - Performing routine maintenance on equipment. - Keeping accurate records of test results. - Following established quality control procedures. - Performs other duties as assigned.
