Job Description Reporting to the Power Plant Maintenance Supervisor, the Power Plant Mechanic performs specialized maintenance duties involving welding, high pressure/high temperature steam, and water lines. Special emphasis for alignment, millwright, machining, plumbing, tubing, chemical or other special material applications. The incumbent performs various Power Plant maintenance and preventative maintenance duties to include all boilers, air pollution control equipment, pumps, coal equipment, liquid fuel systems, ash removal equipment, pneumatic equipment, all auxiliary and support systems as well as the steam turbine and generator. Duties also include general housekeeping and basic maintenance of work area. Ensures performance of duties in a timely manner and in compliance with federal and state law, university policies and procedures, and any associated regulations and guidelines. Overtime may be necessary due to emergencies and breakdowns.
