Junior Ecologist

Job description

The Junior Ecologist supports the delivery of ecological surveys, assessments, and reporting across a wide range of infrastructure, energy, renewables, and development projects. The role provides an opportunity to develop core consultancy skills while working as part of multidisciplinary project teams under the guidance of senior and principal ecologists. Key Responsibilities: Field Survey Support: - Assist with ecological field surveys including habitat surveys, protected species surveys, and monitoring work (e.g. GCN, bats, birds, otter, water vole – depending on experience and season). - Support data collection, recording, and interpretation in line with recognised survey guidance. - Follow health, safety, and biosecurity procedures during fieldwork. Assessment & Reporting: - Support the preparation of technical reports, including: - Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) - EIA ecology chapters - Baseline reports and survey summaries - Assist with data analysis, mapping, and presentation of findings. - Contribute to mitigation measures and recommendations under supervision.
