Brief Summary of role: Katherine Sobering Up Shelter is an 18bed shelter operating 4 nights per week, week provides overnight accommodation to those under the influence of alcohol or other drugs who have been externally or self-referred. To provide day, afternoon and overnight support to people affected by alcohol in a safe, 18 bed sobering up shelter until the effects of their alcohol use has reduced. The support worker is responsible for the ongoing support and safety of clients at the centre. This will involve clear, compassionate communication with clients and management, active participation in personal support and domestic duties, administrative tasks and stakeholder engagement. The support workers should continue the provision of a culturally appropriate service to all clients.
