The incumbent works within the STD Program to detect, control, and prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV, throughout Area 15, which includes St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee, and Indian River Counties. The position operates under the direct supervision of the Public Health Services Manager–SES and is classified as a sensitive position due to regular access to protected health information.
