City/State Virginia Beach, VA Work Shift: First (Days) Overview: Sentara is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on the 3 West Ortho/Joint Unit. Hours/Shift: Full-time, dayshift. Approximately 7am to 7pm Department/Position Overview: 3 West Ortho is a 12-bed unit that accommodates a variety of post operative surgical procedures including total hip, knees, shoulders, ankles & spine. Being that most of our patients are admitted via elective procedure it makes the patient population a joy as they are often very thankful for our staff & have an anticipated plan of care managing pain, physical therapy & monitoring post operative complications. We enforce more independence by promoting mobility which decreases the amount of total care patients we have which is also a bonus for our small unit. Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care.
