Salary/Position Classification: - $23.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime) - hours per week - 100% Remote Work Availability: No - Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No Purpose of Position: This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Duties & Responsibilities 100 % - - Investigate the climatology and formation of tropical cyclones in the Institut Pierre-Simon Laplace (IPSL) climate model, with an emphasis on African easterly waves. - Present results at informal research group meetings, to Atmospheric Sciences students and faculty, and/or at professional conferences. - Attend monthly meetings of the NOAA Model Diagnostics Task Force (MDTF) via Google Meet, and monthly meetings with collaborators from Penn State University. - (Essential) Required Competencies: - Basic understanding of controls on tropical cyclone climatology, including formation, structure, and intensity. - Data analysis and computer programming proficiency using Python, MATLAB, or an equivalent language. - Experience with technical writing and reading peer-reviewed scientific literature.
