Location: Nasseff Tower 10 (NT10), Thoracic Surgery/Monitored Surgical (Progressive Care) Patient Care Type: A 24-bed unit specializing in the care of adult thoracic surgical patients requiring lung, esophageal, and other foregut surgical procedures. All rooms have ECG monitoring with additional capabilities such as invasive and noninvasive blood pressure monitoring. Patients require specialized postsurgical care including management of drainage systems, wound care, and early mobilization. Special emphasis is placed on respiratory assessment, intervention, and management of the postoperative recovery process. Bed #: 24: Nursing Team Roles: Aspects of professional nursing practice include promoting mobility and independence, patient and family education, and discharge planning that can range from straightforward to complex. Nurses play an integral role in advocating for positive patient outcomes. Teamwork is essential in the multidisciplinary care for the patients on Nasseff Tower 10.
