Job description

Lead independent health and safety risk, audit and assurance across one of Australia’s most complex infrastructure portfolios—shaping safe, resilient and accountable delivery at scale. In this role, you’ll: Provide strategic leadership of Sydney Metro’s health and safety risk, audit and assurance function, delivering independent, risk‑based assurance across projects, operations and delivery partners. Ensure critical health and safety controls are well designed, operating effectively and continuously improved, supporting a safe and resilient rail infrastructure delivery and operational environment. Set the organisation’s health and safety assurance strategy and annual program, oversee governance for safety change management, and provide strategic oversight of incident investigations, audits and onsite verification activities. Working closely with project, operations and partnering teams, influence risk‑based decision making and embed learning across the enterprise. As a senior leader, act as a trusted adviser to executives and regulators, champion a proactive safety culture, and introduce contemporary assurance practices informed by domestic and international best practice.
