Description SCRIPPS COLLEGE CLAREMONT, CALIFORNIA 91711: Visiting Assistant Professorship in Spanish Beginning Fall 2026: Scripps College, a women's liberal arts college with a strong interdisciplinary tradition, invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Department of Spanish, Latin American, and Caribbean Literatures and Cultures. This is a one-year appointment beginning in Fall 2026, with a possibility of renewal for a second year. We are seeking candidates who specialize in colonial and/or post-colonial periods and those who take a transnational or comparative approach in their work. We particularly welcome candidates with research areas including—but not limited to—race and sexuality studies, postcolonial eco-criticism, urban studies, translation theory, new media, and Visual and Performance Studies to foster a strong dialogue across and within our areas of specialization related to Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Africa. The successful candidate should also be prepared to teach a Spanish heritage language course. The teaching load is five courses per year, plus thesis reading.
