The Emergency Department (ED) Technician provides essential direct and indirect patient care support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), playing a critical role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and patient-centered environment within the ED The ED Technician performs a wide range of direct patient care activities, including vital sign assessment and documentation, completion of 12-lead EKGs, and bladder scans. This role involves assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as personal hygiene, mobility, and toileting, and providing constant observation for high-risk patients to ensure their safety and well-being. Clinical responsibilities also encompass phlebotomy, specimen collection and labeling, and performing Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) as delegated. The technician assists with various procedures, including intubations, lumbar punctures, pelvic exams, joint aspirations, wound care, eye/ear irrigations, suture/staple removal, and foley leg bag application.
