Description The Flaum Eye Institute (FEI) and the Department of Ophthalmology at The University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York has an opening for a full-time Optometrist. The position involves working with the Flaum Eye Institute’s Comprehensive Eye Care Services and satellite offices. The scope of practice is to provide comprehensive eye care, including the refraction and dispensing of spectacles and contact lenses, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, cataract co-management, and care of dry eyes. We are highly integrated with our Optical Shops and also offer a comprehensive contact lens service including the fitting and management of specialty contact lenses. As FEI is a highly specialized practice, the Optometrist works collaboratively with many subspecialists including the fields of retina, glaucoma, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, refractive surgery, and pediatric ophthalmology. There are academic opportunities in teaching and research. The Optometrist can utilize his/her degree to the fullest in our academic environment.
