Description The purpose of this position is to advance the processing of nickel-based superalloys using directional recrystallization of additively-manufactured rods. The project involves detailed microstructural characterization of the additively-manufactured rods both before and after directional recrystallization. The project may also involve further the further development of the equipment used for directional recrystallization processing. ● Undertakes directional recrystallization processing of additive-manufactured rods of nickel-based superalloys that are produced by our collaborators. Determines the best processing conditions by undertaking detailed microstructural characterization of the rods. Undertakes further refinement of the directional recrystallization processing equipment. (80%) ● Authors or co-authors research findings. (10%) ● Presents findings at conferences (5%) ● Assists with writing grant proposals and obtaining funding (5%) Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion and cultural awareness through actions, interactions and communication with others.
