QUALIFICATIONS: National certification required. Valid Texas state pharmacy technician registration. High school diploma or graduate equivalent degree. One year’s pharmacy experience required: Hospital pharmacy experience preferred: OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE: Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards. ______________________________________________________________________________ RESPONSIBILITIES: - Answers the telephone and assists with responses to inquiries - Orders items requested by other hospital departments and delivers items when received - Receives and processes requests by other departments - Monitors all recalled items via wholesaler report and documents all activities - Assists with all areas of the drug distribution system, including procuring stock, rotating stock, filling and maintaining automated dispensing units and managing expired drugs - Gathers items needed for miscellaneous requisitions, orders, crash carts, etc. to be checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing - Delivers checked medications to the nursing units - Prepackages and labels medications into unit doses from bulk supply - Teach...
