Reseach Assistant Professor (Postdoctoral position)

Description The Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Science at American University invites applicants for a postdoctoral position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor. The qualified candidate will work predominantly with Dr. Douglas Fox’s research group and at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD on the flammability of materials. The initial appointment will be January 1, 2015 through August 31, 2015. Reappointments for two additional 12-month periods are contingent on continued external funding of the project and satisfactory yearly performance evaluations. Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD in chemistry, materials, engineering or a related field and be qualified to work at a national laboratory. Preference will be given to those with prior experience in fire science or colloidal chemistry.
