Job Description Under direction of the Assistant Commissioner of the Bureau of Sustainability, manages activities for the pre-construction, construction and commissioning (startup) of the Tibbetts Brook Daylighting and Greenway project. The Bureau of Sustainability is embarking on an ambitious Green Infrastructure project to daylight parts of Tibbetts Brook in the Bronx that have been covered for more than a century. Stream daylighting is the process of restoring a stream to a more natural state by removing any obstructions covering it, such as concrete or pavement. Daylighting Tibbetts Brook will remove the brook’s clean water from the Sewer System and help to reduce Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs) into the Harlem River. New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has worked with NYC's Department of Parks and Recreation to develop a design that would not only daylight the stream but also develop a parkway within an old rail corridor. The $145 Million project is expected to reduce CSO discharges to the Harlem River by 215 million gallons per year and will be the largest green infrastructure project in New York City.
