Job description

Essential Job Duties: - Ensures that each patient receives the best nutritional care possible within the dietary restrictions for the nature of that disease state. - Charts appropriately in the record of each patient identified to be at nutritional risk. - Performs Physician Ordered Diet Instructions and Nutritional Screenings for therapeutic diets, utilizing approved instruction materials and methods. - Calculates diabetic, renal and other therapeutic diets and suggest changes in meal patterns as necessary. - Calculates all enteral and parenteral nutrition, calorie counts and provides documentation in the electronic medical record. - Develops and updates nutrition education materials. - Develops skills of other clinical staff through in services. - Submits reports to the Director on a pre-determined basis concerning Q.A. studies and other information requested. - Maintains current registration through continuing education. - Responsible for all Cardiology patients including teaching the Heart Healthy Class for the Cardiac Rehab outpatient unit.
