It's more than a career, it's a calling WI-SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Madison Worker Type: Regular Job Highlights: This is a full time day shift Histotechnician position for St. Mary's Hospital in Madison working a total of 40 hours per week from 4:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. No weekends! Certified and non-certified candidates are encouraged to apply. Job Summary: Performs general histological duties, under direct supervision, according to established procedures as well as preparation of histologic slides for microscopic examination and diagnosis by the pathologist. Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Collects, labels, processes and preserves tissue specimens according to established laboratory procedures. - Prepares sections of tissue for immediate examination, using frozen section technique to freeze, cut, mount and stain specimens. - Operates computerized laboratory equipment to fix, dehydrate, and infiltrate with wax, tissue specimens to be preserved for study by the pathologist. - Performs embedding, cutting, and staining of tissues and pathology specimens received. - Performs basic histology special stains using manual or au...
