Job description
The UNIX/LINUX System Engineer - Senior provides senior engineering and operational leadership for UNIX/Linux infrastructure under the SEC ISS contract. This role is responsible for secure, reliable, and compliant operation of Red Hat Linux-based systems across virtualized, data center, cloud-connected, and HALSI high-performance computing environments (NYRO, SEC HQ/DC, and D1 Manassas) that support SEC OIT services. The engineer leads incident response, advanced troubleshooting, and service restoration activities to maintain operational continuity and SLA performance. This position aligns with HALSI UNIX/Linux support scope (PWS 3.6.1) and supports continuous improvement of UNIX/Linux platform operations. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: UNIX/LINUX Infrastructure Operations: Manage day-to-day administration of the UNIX/Linux server infrastructure, with primary focus on Red Hat Linux environments. Perform system configuration, account administration, OS maintenance, and lifecycle support for physical and virtual servers.
