The School of Optometry is looking for a part-time registered optician to provide high-quality training and education for students in the School of Optometry’s optical shop, 10 Optical. This is a part-time position, with onsite requirements on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This employee may also be asked to cover 10 Optical periodically as well. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Provides appropriate patient education regarding lens and frame options. - Ensures the timely processing of daily patient orders. - Completes verification of insurance or vision care coverage for optical products and services. - Oversees the collection of patient payments, the submission of accurate billing information, and the posting of charges and payments in the system. - Supervises and coordinates activities of student interns. - Provides supervision and instruction in optical labs, including edging. - Keeps current details on vision care plans and other third-party payers. - Helps with inventory management and control. - Use of edging equipment.
