Garage Mechanic

Job description

 The garage mechanic, under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled tasks in connection with the maintenance of vehicles and other equipment. May perform body and fender work on vehicles and equipment.  Performs all work in a safe manner. Complies with all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures. Performs all work they are qualified and trained to do in a manner to protect themselves, their fellow employees and the public from injury. Diagnoses, maintains and repairs all motorized and non-motorized equipment and components. Diagnoses, dismantles, inspects, overhauls (minor or major) mechanical or hydraulic systems on booms, derricks, diggers, bucket trucks, cranes, etc. Makes repairs to pumps, cylinders, valves, pulleys, levers and controls, lines, hoses, cables, drive assemblies and hydraulic winches. Maintains and repairs motorized and non-motorized special equipment such as small engines, portable and stationary generators, hydraulic, pneumatic and electric tools, winches and gear boxes and add-on components such as spot lights, rotary lights, etc. Performs housekeeping tasks.
