Sterile Processing Technician

Job description

Department: Operating Room Schedule/Status: Varies; Part Time: Standard Hours/Week: 20: General Description: Under the direct supervision of the Sterile Processing Manager, responsible for decontamination, assembly and preparation, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and supplies to the operating room and minor equipment items throughout the hospital. Requirements: - Works in the decontamination area to receive and wash all contaminated instruments and equipment items using proper washing techniques. - Assembles surgical trays and packs according to established protocols. Examines and inspects instruments for contamination before packaging. Demonstrates knowledge of surgical instruments. - Participates in the sterilization process, including use of biological indicators and testing and operation of equipment. Demonstrates knowledge of proper sterilization techniques. - Pulls supplies and instrument trays for surgical cases.
